Like Twitter? But sometimes it’s a bit much — or confusing? Here’s a great blog post on Twitter and how to really enjoy it:

http://www.newbielifeline.com/2009/04/20/tweet-tweet-why-i-use-twitter/

Just found it (on Twitter, naturally) and had to share it with you!

Also be sure to check out the other links on that blog. They all lead to more good stuff.

Why I like Twitter? Lots of reasons. Someone asked this very question recently, and I told him (not necessarily in this order): fun, contancts, and discovery! Yeah. I discover new cool stuff all the time.

Interestingly, I’m even discovering new aspects in my relationships with old friends!

And I LOVE the forced pithiness (i.e., brevity). I used to have an old Math teacher (grouchy but lovable guy) who used to say “In der Kuerze liegt die Wuerze” which means that in brevity lies the spice. I totally agree.

And so, instead of rambling on, I’ll just send you on to Twitter. And if you haven’t found me on there yet, please follow me:

http://twitter.com/ElisabethKuhn

P.S.: I finally have gotten my hands on another copy of the book I’ve been meaning to sell — Problem was, I couldn’t find my resell rights info for the old one, so I bought another one. Nutty? Probably. BUT it’s THAT good. And if I sell even one copy, I’ll have my money back. Everything beyond that is pure profit.

Do take a look please. It won’t bite:

Another Twitter Tips Post… this time on followers and what to do if you need to “manage” them.

It sounds a bit cold, but here’s the thing. Twitter lets you only follow so many more than follow you. So you need to be able to unfollow some of the people you followed who don’t follow you back so that you can follow others who WILL follow you back.

It’s all about reciprocity after all.

So how do you know?

Easy. Just go to the section with the people you’re following — and everyone who has the “private message” sign next to their name is following you. Anyone who doesn’t have that sign is not following you back.

Now don’t go and unfollow them all right then and there. You usually start looking in the newest area, and so they may not have had time to follow you back yet. But if it’s been a couple of weeks, you may want to unfollow them.

There’s also a cool tool that makes the whole manageing followers thing even easier:

http://dossy.org/twitter/karma

Just be aware that it will take a while until the thing loads. A LONG while. Be patient. It’s worth it.

Because once it’s loaded, you’ll see all the people you follow and all those who follow you — specially marked, and you can instantly tell which relationships are mutual and which ones are one-sided, and you can take efficient remedial action.

You can unfollow all those who are not following you back. Though yhou may want to make an exception for the more recent additions and also certain people whom you follow because you’re interested in what they have to say — or you want to nurture a relationship with them. Give them some time….

And then, just as efficiently, you can follow all those who are following you whom you haven’t followed back.

Just add a check mark next to their name and click the “bulk follow” button at the bottom of the screen. For unfollowing people, do the same thing and hit the “bulk unfollow” button. Make sure you’re doing this in two separate go-arounds!

One thing you should know: it won’t show what you did until you come back later. However, once you get back to Twitter, you’ll see the difference immediately.

So if you want to make room for more people you can follow, just go to Twitter Karma and take care of it in minutes…

Hi,

Twitter has become quite the power player lately. And yet, sometimes it can seem more than a bit overwhelming. So how can you work with Twitter and actually make it bring results beyond “just” meeting interesting people?

It’s not all that different from the offline world, except that you have access to much larger numbers.

What to do?

Build relationships. Meet cool people and establish a relationship with them. Retweet their stuff, respond to what they ‘re writing about, etc.

Sell, but only a little.

Every dozen or so tweets, feel free to mention what you have for sale. But otherwise, keep it helpful and/or friendly.

How to keep up with your friends? Without fancy extra applications?

Respond to them or Favorite one of their posts. That’llhelp you find their name quickly. Then click on their name and see what they chatted about recently. If anything is something you can relate to, respond.

Of course, it helps if you have followers who actually are interested in the stuff you’re likely to talk about. How to do that?

Be as clear about what you’re all about as you can. And find kindred spirits on Twitter and follow their followers (and maybe those they follow). You can build a list of kindred spirits in a big hurry.

Want more tips? Leave some comments… and I’ll write more

And my Favorite Web Stuff Blog is participating in the Connie’s Blogging Challenge. I knew I had to do SOMETHING to get my behind in gear, and realized that this would be it. I simply HAD to get myself to start posting here regularly.

And considering that I’m now doing consulting on how to set up stuff and people pay me good money for it, and appreciate my help, I figured I better start doing what I preach on my own blogs too.

Especially this one.

My Self-Help Blog has been going a bit stronger — and feel free to go check that out:

http://www.MyFavoriteSelfHelpStuff.com

But it’s time to share tips and informaiton as well as recommendations RIGHT HERE.

By way of update: A LOT has changed. I’ve got a bunch of websites and products in the funnel that are getting ready to come online.

One of them, my http://www.IMTimeMastery.com time management course (licensed from my favorite internet marketing/personal growth guru) is up now.

While I’ve still got a tiny challenge with a couple of the (many) video files, I’m sorting it o out now, and if you buy it anyway you’ll get all sorts of bonuses because I’m trying to make up for my bad conscience and your inconvenience.

And I’ve finally set up TWO new cool newsletters with sign-up pages:

http://www.SaveMoneyAllYear.com

(check out the video) and

http://www.IMTimeManagement.info

And because Connie’s challenge wants that we post every day and make up for days we’ve missed, I’ll leave it at that and will tell you more about both programs and my newest discoveries and learning lessons in my next post.

Elisabeth

P.S.: If you aren’t already, please follow me on Twitter, and you may want to follow Connie too!

You use Twitter, right? After all, it’s the hottest marketing tool on the planet.

But don’t you sometimes feel that it can be frustrating, confusing and a huge time-waster if you don’t know what you’re doing? I have to admit, I’m guilty as charged… and tweeting, not to mention keeping up with everybody else’s tweets, can be positively addictive.

But if it’s used correctly, it can drive traffic to your website and even generate sales, sometimes in a matter of just a few seconds.

But how? Fortunately, my friend, Joan Stewart, The Publicity Hound, is hosting a teleseminar series Oct. 13 and 14 called “How to to Use Twitter to Amass an Army of Followers, Customers & Valuable Contacts–and Promote.” You better believe I’ll be there!

On Day 1, you’ll learn the basics of Twitter and time-saving tips. On Day 2, you’ll learn specific strategies on to promote any product, service, cause or issue.

But what if you’re too busy? No problem! If you have a scheduling conflict, register anyway because you’ll get a copy of the MP3 audios and the electronic transcripts to review at your leisure.

Seating is limited to 100 people, so register today at http://www.allthetrafficyouwant.com and learn all about how you too can turn Twitter into a great source of traffic — and sales.

Like they used to say at the radio station where I was a deejay way back when I was in college: Be there or be square

See you on Twitter later Tweet me at http://www.twitter.com/ElisabethKuhn
